Due to our self-image and our origin as a university educational institution, the teaching of evaluation competence is a main focus of our institute.

In cooperation with various partners, we offer academic and practice-oriented training and continuing education programs. These aim at conveying theoretical and methodological basic knowledge as well as experiential knowledge from evaluation practice.

International Program for Development Evaluation Training

IPDET is a professional development program that aims to provide decision-makers, managers, and practitioners with the tools needed to commission, manage, and evaluate policies, programs, and projects at the local, national, regional, and global levels, and to use these evaluations for decision-making.
IPDET emphasizes practice and provides a diversified approach to audiences from different organizations and sectors that play different roles in the evaluation process.

IPDET is composed of a summer program in Bern, which consists of a one-week basic course on the fundamentals of evaluation, followed by two weeks of workshops on special topics and recent developments in the field. In addition, IPDET offers online workshops and regional focused sessions within Global Outreach.

Master (Blended Learning) of Evaluation MABLE (M.A.)

The M.A. degree programme 'Master (Blended Learning) of Evaluation' is unique in Europe and only a few universities in the world offer a comparable study programme. The programme teaches students the knowledge and skills needed to undertake professional evaluation work in the fields of policy-making, administration and social services. The M.A. programme is a cooperative programme run jointly with the Distance and Independent Studies Center at University of Kaiserslautern-Landau.

The study program is based on theories, research methods and evaluation studies of national and international evaluations. Students learn to design and conduct evaluations in an international context.

Continuing Education Master's Degree Program (M.A.)

The Master of Advanced Studies in Evaluation is a German-language course of study in cooperation with btw Saar.
The practice-oriented study program prepares students for the scientific treatment of evaluation issues on the one hand, and for expert and consulting activities in the field of evaluation on the other. At the same time, it imparts core competencies that prepare students for tasks related to quality management and organizational development within the organization, thus opening up broad fields of activity.

Coordinator in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) – online

CEval GmbH supports the Gesellschaft für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (GNE) with the English-language online training program Coordinator in Monitoring & Evaluation in Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. Participants learn in theoretical and practical lessons how to use the concepts and methods of evaluation. The basic modules on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), on Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis, and on Quantitative Data Collection and Analysis are held by CEval GmbH trainers on a recurring basis every four months.
